Purchased this for a class, but really enjoyed the book, Change is inevitable, but we need to be able to make positive change and as leaders help others adapt to the change. This book is a great resource that I will be keeping on my book shelf
I have read this book multiple times; would love to see an updated version
One of my favorite scholars, Pat Benner brings it. Her work is thoughtful and complex, and this book unites the best of all minds to take a hard look at modern day nursing education. The authors fearlessly assert that it's just not good enough, and thankfully, clearly offer the suggestion of where to go next. Well written, easy to follow, and fodder for the contemplative mind. Excellent!
Thank you Dr. Benner. It's getting crazy as a nurse educator with the daily changes to practice.
I was hoping the book would be more of a blue print on how to improve the profession. It would have been more helpful if there were tables and algorithms on how to get from where we are in nursing to where we need to go.
another classic - a standard if you are an educator....
Patricia Benner wrote a landmark book, "From Novice to Expert." In this book she follows through with advice to fellow nurse educators. Benner is always worth reading -- and taking to heart. A must have work for nurse educators, administrators and graduate students.
I enjoyed this book, both as a nurse, and as an educator. I would recommend other nurse educators read this and consider the ideas for change the authors offer. It was written in an engaging manner, making it an easier read than a textbook, but with the evidence and professionalism expected from a book written for changing educational practice.
