Many records/labels not listed by the Beatles for starters, The record Club version of " Meet the Beatles" album on Capitol also nothing under the Beatles Fan Club, Capitol Starline, Collectables, Decca ( Which Contains 2 of the rarest 45's), MGM, United Artists ( also 3 very rare 45's) and 1 or 2 other labels not listed under 45's. I just got the book so I have not had a chance to look further but it didn't take long to find these omissions, this is inexcusable for Goldmine which used to be the Bible for record collectors, what a waste of money. I just ordered Jerry Osborn's "Rockin' Records" on CD-ROM to get something more complete...

I should have saved my $25 and not bought this! It actually seems like the 8th Edition has MORE information! Take Michael Jackson as an example. Where are the albums Thriller, Off The Wall and Bad? Book mentions the Thriller and Bad Picture Discs but not the actual albums! The Cover also says "1950-1990" but I saw multiple albums listed after 1991. Was this book not edited?My advice would be to buy the 8th Edition as I find that to be more complete.

It was good for typical mainstream records but it didn't have many of the promo, dj and rarer 45s that I was hoping for. It also omitted many of the LPs I was looking for. All in all I found a little more than 70% of what I was looking for. I wish there was another book that could help me with the other 30% of LPs, promos and DJ copies that I need.......R.R.

For collectors it's one of the 2 valuation guides out there. Always fun to compare the 2. Jerry Osborne does the other one. Best to buy both of them. To compare, the discography is a little more complete in Thompson's.

For a beginnning student in horticulture this book is great for anyone interested in greenhouses and how they work. This gives loads of information on logistics of placement of the greenhouse, glazing material, form, heating/cooling and information that is really invaluable to the greenhouse manager. It is concise and well written, easily understood and informative. I have really only scratched the surface of what is in this book. I value this as an important part of my library of horticulture literature. Buy here at Amazon.com and save at least 40percent off college bookstore prices.

Carmen Lomas Garza is a painter and children's book illustrator who does large-scale paintings based on her life growing up Mexican-American in Texas in the 1950s. Her paintings illustrate moments from her childhood, such as family meals and holidays. I saw one of her large paintings in the children's wing of a hospital where I had taken my 3-year-old for a checkup, and did a little research on her and found her books. My kid loves them; she loves to look at all the details in the illustrations and imagine what each of the people's names are and what their relationships are to each other. To be clear, these are not really storybooks: There's no plot or dialogue. Each page is a different illustration of a moment in the author's childhood, with a little bit of text from the author explaining what's going on in the picture. Parents should be aware that these are realistic depictions of childhood in the 50s and there is some very slightly graphic content, for example her uncle bringing a freshly killed rabbit into the kitchen to cook for dinner, a picture that includes a little blood from the rabbit. But mostly these are pictures celebrating family.

This book has lovely illustrations and is written in both Spanish and English. It is probably best suited for a high school Spanish class to enrich reading and culture. I bought it to use in an ESL class at the elementary level but it is clearly not suited for young children.

Such beautiful pictures in this book! Love everything about this book! So relatable to our family! Adorable and so good for a bilingual home!!! Let's keep our language alive by teaching our kiddos how to read Spanish too!

We love this book! It's not for children who don't like wordy passages, but the pictures are detailed and reminiscent of my own upbringing. I loved having a chance to talk about la llarona with my kids! Not for the faint of heart, or ultra PC parent.

I used this book, along with Family Pictures, during a personal narrative writing unit when student-teaching third grade at a Spanish/English bilingual school. The majority of the children were immigrants from Mexico and they found these books engaging and easy to relate to. I think it was powerful for them to see experiences like their own in a published format. We studied the way the author described small events from her life, then the students each wrote three short personal narratives based on small events from their lives. Finally they each chose one piece, translated it so that it was in both English and Spanish (like the mentor texts), and illustrated it. Then we bound all of the stories together into one book and made a photocopy of the book for each student. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the work they'd done and they really felt like published authors at the end.

The paintings in this book are so beautiful and full and tell so much. You can see grandmothers rocking babies, children playing with each other, every little detail so sharply rendered. Look at the plates of empanadas in the kitchen and the family gathered for a backyard party. The honest, personal text--given in both English and Spanish--make this perfect. Great for anyone who wants to learn about family life as well as another culture. My[...] daughter loves to pore over these pictures. Highly recommended!

These books are great. They are bilingual (Spanish/English), collections of short memoirs from the author's experience. I have used these books for a variety of purposes, including as mentor texts with both young children and adults who are learning to write in both languages. They are uniquely American.

Garza creates the world of a Mexican-heritage family living in Texas. She captures the closeness of family life and the colorful beauty of the culture and landscape. The bilingual component helped me improve my Spanish vocabulary, and the drawings delighted me. As more and more people speak Spanish, the culture of the U.S. benefits from the language, ideas and art brought from Latin heritage into everyday life. This book is great for children and as something families can read together.

I know I need to learn HTML and I have been totally intimidated by it. Totally! And they show you immediately how it works and it is so, so, so simple. It may be time consuming to write HTML code, but it is not that hard to learn. If you are intimidated, as I was, BUY this book! I think it will get you over that in minutes. I highly recommend it! They have another one just on HTML, I haven't seen that one, but at some point you are going to need to learn CSS. I did not think the CSS section was clear. I guess my biggest gripe about the book is that I wanted them to bulid a good-looking website with each step. There are a lot of graphics that are really pointless---like the ones in the header section---that space could have been used a whole lot better. They do build a rinky-dink site, but they could have done much better with that part. I think the glaring benefit of the book is that you can pick up the basics of HTML coding fast and understand what is going on even faster. For that reason alone, it was worth a WHOLE LOT MORE than the cost of a meal, which is what I paid.I also bought the Sam's 24 hr book on HTML & CSS after I bought this one. This one got me over the intimidation of HTML, but the Sam's one is a lot clearer when it comes to CSS, and you really are going to have to learn that.If you have bad eyesight (can't see small print) the other reviewer is right, don't buy this book. The print in the examples of web pages which are on every page is REALLY small. I can see it, but someone else might not be able to.

This book is a super-cheater for HTML and CSS for someone who doesn't know anything about it. This is my second version because I gave my first away to someone who begged me for it. Even easier to use than the 'For Dummies' series because it's visual. Highly recommend it.
