The atlas is comprehensive but the pages are very thin and tear easily. I would gladly pay a but more for an atlas that uses better quality paper. All in all, it got me through the trip but had to tape many of the pages to keep them from tearing further.

Used this for planning and mapping an extensive backroads trip through Ireland. It was extremely useful although we did use GPS for navigating as it can be challenging to stay on top of things. We circumnavigated the whole island and the detail of the regional maps was instrumental in the attaining a near perfect experience!

We bought a bunch of maps for our trip to Ireland and this was a great book. It had the maps and nicely laid out additional information for our trip. Good purchase

There was no place where the maps came together. (separate pages for sections of the country) I found it hard to navigate with this map, as we were on a road trip from Dublin to the Ring of Kerry, and then up to Galway.

Plan out your trip on using the map BEFORE you go on excursions. Mark the pages and circle where you are going. It will get you there without a GPS.

Great map for planning our trip. I needed something detailed but easy to read. Looking forward to applying this to the actual roads.

I bought this as a supplement to Google maps for a roadtrip in Ireland this past fall. It was very helpful in planning our itinerary before we arrived and we referred to it intermittently throughout the trip. It included even the smaller, more obscure roads and we were able to locate our B and B locations. It was reassuring knowing we had a backup if we lost our cell signal.

Excellent, high detail maps on durable paper. Also, inside the front page and on the back page "brings it all together" in that it overlays the individual local maps over a map of the whole island (Northern Ireland and Ireland). The town/city maps contained in the atlas will also be useful. This atlas will be invaluable in our trip planning and the eventual driving.

We just returned from Kauai, and enjoyed the heads up about a few things from the Laskas. We already knew that our 1st stop would be Costco (but were shocked to find out how many people didn't think to do this), but the Hindu Monastery...who knew?? Kmart for souvenirs, who knew? As the authors request, I'll be emailing them with our own finds that they might enjoy knowing about. It was also great to get a heads up about what not to do, such as Walmart and the tour kiosks (we actually would go talk to them for our own amusement in bait & switch sales!).

This is one of the best travel books I've read! It contains a plethera of useful money-saving ideas - ideas that would have taken me years to discover on my own, if ever. What's even better, these ideas are packaged in a well-written, concise and funny manner. I found myself either chuckling at their funny prose or saying "Oh wow, what a great tip". This book is a must read for those planning a trip to Kauai. Further, many of their money saving ideas can apply to other travel destinations in the U.S.

My boyfriend and I are currently here on Kauai, arriving a few days after the historic flooding on the island. We are having a great time despite some rain and rougher surf. I love this book! This is our first time here and with being on a limited budget, we our finding all sorts of activities to do and see for free. I read this book over prior to coming and find myself still going over it while we are here. Great tips for saving yourself some money on souvenirs and food. Thank you for sharing your experiences, it is well appreciated by us. I can already see us coming back again!

I am going to Kauai next week, and ordered this download after seeing a positive link on a social media site. As a former Kauai resident (!), I can say without a doubt that this family has done their homework. I really enjoyed all of the tips and budget saving ideas. I have bookmarked many of the pages as things to do or see on our trip (watch out hubby, we'll be busy!) I read this book in a desultory fashion while on a cross country drive. Here follow my impressions.The HP Lovecraft Institute is by David Bischoff who is apparently widely published, although I've never read anything by him. He has written several other novels with similar titles like JRR Tolkein University. This book is a publication from Wildside Press, an Alan Rogers book (so I guess he was the editor?), with a publication date of 2002. List price is $34.95, no discounts noted. I forget how long ago I got my copy, or how much I paid for it. I can't figure out who did the cover art, a sort of picture of HPL in an octopus like body, rather drab. Page count was 386. Physically it is a handsome book but the editing was remarkably poor. Typos abounded, with misspellings, word subsitutions and characters changing names in mid page. This reflects the fact that the editor should have demanded a few more rewrites.I'll be brief and will not describe the plot in detail. This may spoil it somewhat for those who care. Basically this is a case where an evil sorcerer type has used an arcane power source to prolong his life. By means of blood sacrifice, now that the stars are right, he intends to open a gate to allow Nyarlathotep access to our plane. Sounds very Lovecraftian. Didn't read that way. This novel was fraught with problems. In fact the genre seems much more suited to the short story, although recently I did enjoy Balak and the work of Cody Goodfellow. HPL Institute read more like a Stephen King wannabe than an HPL knock off. This sorcerer type has killed his brother years before, and enslaved his niece, making her a vampire (not very mythos). Of course there is a disillusioned minister with a son who has nascent telepathy and telekinesis powers, an oversexed teen girl, and the brother has been resurrected somehow as a skeleton named Mr. Bones who communicates with an innocent young girl, making his home in her closet....I could go on. Stock King situations and characters, unscary gore verging on the schlocky, unsexy sex verging on softcore porn, paper thin charcters who do not relate to one another in a believable way (particularly when the son catches the dad in hanky panky with a high school girl he has some interest in), weak dialogue, a confused jumble of subgenres, less than compelling prose. Well I liked a few of the brief vignettes but mostly this was forgettable. No sense at all of the cosmicism of HPL which I really like. I also need to mention that HPL made an appearance as someone the sorcerer type told all to, and who then wrote up this truth as fiction and who was then offed by the sorcerer. I really dislike this plot device, where HPL is mentioned as having written fiction that was actually true.With everything else I guess the most unforgivable fault for me was that it was boring. I kept looking wistfully at other books in my stack, but forced myself to finish based on the price paid. If the prose had sparkle I still could have recommended this book. As it was, at the price, I suggest borrowing it from the library instead of paying cash if you really want to read it. You miss nothing if you give it a miss. I certainly was relieved to be done with it. On the other hand it was much better than stuff like Horror Between the Sheets.

Overall I enjoyed this book. However, though its a nicely produced hardback, the editing is abominable. Misspellings, badly arrange words, incorrect words, homonyms and other severe editing errors severely disrupts the reading experience.

This was an interesting story, little to do with HPL, but interesting none the less. The humor comes in as you read along and start playing continuity police. Misspellings, characters switching in mid conversation, a magic car that can't decide if its a Lincoln, a Dodge or a Plymouth, etc... Once I stopped being upset at the quality of the editing and got into the game, I started counting/writing down the mistakes from pg 116 on and hit 39 "oopses". This book is a prime example of "proof reading by spellcheck". So the question becomes Did Wildside Press fire all their proof readers before printing this book? If you get distracted by continuity errors, try another of Bischoffs books. If it doesnt bother you, this at least has interesting characters and a plot line with potential.

Owning several other books from this series, I am very disappointed in this one. It covers only the most basic, high level stuff on what matters and invests a lot of pages in things most home owners will never encounter. Also, every other source I have ever read on PVC says not to dry fit because you may damage the parts or not be able to get them back apart. This book has dry fitting happening all over the place. If you are looking to learn how to replace the screen in your faucet, go ahead and get the book. If you have a real project you are looking to tackle I would go elsewhere..

I think this is a really good book to compliment your plumbing guide library. I've read a few plumbing books recently in preparation for a house renovation I'm about to start, and I felt like no one book had all the plumbing information I wanted. This is a good purchase though. It's not quite as complete as the author's Electrical Complete book (which I think is an essential electrical guide) but it's still worth reading/owning.

Really helpful for the home handyman. Very easy to understand and the author writes very well. Even plumbing becomes interesting. For example, I've been struggling to open up a slow draining tub in my older home. I've tried everything I could think or. Learned from the book that Pro's usually just replace the drain trap - that there really is no way to clean it out once the gunk has hardened in it - and this just happens after many years of service. So that is my next project...

This book however is easy to read, formatted, organized, and written well and has a lot of useful information for those going into a health profession management position.

The first few chapters are written a bit theoretically. But the author then moves into clear presentation and applies management principles specifically to the healthcare field.

I have recently read We are the Weather Makers by TimFlannery. This book is an expository selection about thehistory of climate change, past effects of it, futureevents to come as a response to global warming, and what weare going to do about it. The book consists of three parts,all of which I have read. Part One, Earth and the CarbonConnection, is about the history of climate change. Parttwo, Endangered Habitats, is about species of plants andanimals that have been driven extinct as a consequence ofglobal warming, and species that are going to if the rateit is developing stays the same. Part three, What's toCome?, is about what could happen to our planet, howscientists figured this out, and multiple solutions toclimate change and their pros and cons. One feature in thisbook that I adored was the Call to Actions. They were atthe end of each chapter, and were things that young adultscould do to help this problem in our own homes andhometowns.I rated part one three out of ten, becausealthough effective in getting the little points and bigpicture around to me, it went about doing that in a boringway. There are a lot of long scientific words to bememorized and, you have to reread almost the whole thingfrom time to time. Often I would find myself reading aparagraph in it three or four times before I got what itwas saying! I rate the second part an eight out of ten.This was my favorite part of the book. It wasn't boring,it vividly described what happened/would happen in thefuture to threatened species, and rereading was minimal forme. I rated the third and final part six out of ten. It hadsome boring parts, and some parts I had to reread, but italso had some really interesting chapters about renewableenergy, environmentally safe cars, nuclear power plants,and groups that have taken action. One feature in this bookthat I adored was the Call to Actions, short articles atthe end of each chapter talking about things that youngadults could do to help this global warming in our ownhomes and hometowns.
