Got this today and made the Beef & Potato Stew. Other than a little too salty (for my taste) it was beautiful and delicious! Some of the juices did overflow (but not too much). The two reasons i didn't give this book 5 stars are (1) very few pictures and (2) I couldn't find a list of the book's recipes online before I bought it. When the Instant Pot mini went on sale I snapped one up because I used to cook for a family of seven, but now am cooking just for me most of the time. I put my 8 quart in storage and my 6 quart on a shelf for occasional use and was excited for this cute little IP for myself. Doing a google search for recipes, I saw that bloggers were not all on the same page: some said go ahead and cut your 6 quart recipes in half but just as many said no that won't work as cooking times would be different. I saw this cookbook made just for mini recipes and decided to check it out. It is a nice little book with some pictures which are strangely all put together in the middle of the book. Some of the recipes look useful to me and others I will never try, which is pretty typical for any cookbook I believe. My issue is the recipes themselves. Nearly all of them are for 4 servings. I was hoping for 2 servings, more realistic for one person. Also, these recipes are definitely not for people watching their weight. The desserts I understand, but most of the recipes call for butter, olive oil, cream, cream cheese, whole milk, coconut milk, sour cream, you get the idea. So if I want to try a lot of the recipes I will need to substitute ingredients for a more reasonable calorie count. The point of buying the book was so I wouldn't have to change the recipes. I will try a few recipes, mostly soups of which there is a good selection. I will for the most part go back to my collection of 6 quart recipes. I have plenty of them available.

I was really excited to see a dedicated cookbook for the mini that would provide me with recipes for two. I love my IPs and have the 6 qt and 8 qt also, which I use all the time for various purposes. The minimized recipes would be so convenient for meals for husband and I without all the leftovers! However, I noted at once that most of the recipes either were designated as 3-4 servings or were WAY too much to divide into two servings. The most important issue, once I made some of the recipes, was that they filled the pot insert almost to the top. All InstaPot instructions warn users not to overfill the pot to avoid overflow issues and allow space for steam to build to cook the meal. In a couple of cases, I dumped the full mini insert contents into my 6 qt IP to cook rather than risk an overfill issue. Other than that, the book is authorized by InstaPot (many self-published 'InstantPot' collections are not, and poorly edited...wasted money for recipes gleaned from online or other sources) and has some very nice recipes. Anyone expecting cookbooks specifically geared to the 3qt. Mini should realize that just because a cookbook is advertised as 'cooking for two', that does NOT mean it is designed for the limited capacity of the Mini.

This book is OUTSTANDING. I just purchased am Instant Pot Mini (3 quart) and had a difficult time finding recipes for this sized pot. This book not only has the recipes I wanted, but the directions are very easy for a "newbie" to follow. My interest in using this is for Steaming vegetables, Cooking Beans and making soups. This book has everything I need to do that and is written for the size Instant Pot that I have. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I bought the Kindle version and when I opened it...I was so happy with the recipes and especially how well written and easy to follow the directions are! Well Done!

the usual entertaining story

I love books that draw you in and allow you to escape into the world of the main character. Mia King does that and her novels take just days (or hours in my case) to read. Marissa Price is so interesting and what happens to her life is amusing, and it's interesting how one can like her more and more as this story line progresses. I love a good story with interesting characters that's an entertaining read. My book club also loved this book for the interesting turns and twists in the story and the awesome recipes in the book. We all made a dish from the recipes and brought it to our book club meeting - it was paradise!! A fantastic book club read!

This was a fun read. There were some parts that seemed to drag longer than other subjects, but otherwise I really liked how the book ended. I'm looking forward to reading her other books!

Yes, a Sweet Life living in Hawaii! A wonderful story on how Hawaii can challenge everyone and if you stay true to yourself it welcomes you fully! Beautiful story...all of Mia's stories are great and I look forward to reading her next one...when is it coming out?

This is a great book. I was happy with the service. I would reomment this book to everyone. Once you start it you won't wnat to put it down.

I would recommend this book to anyone that has ever thought, desired, wondered, or moved to aremote and/or tropical island.An easy read with good character development.Also, the lead female character shows her strength and tenacity through the entire story.

I'm not sure that there is technically a genre called "mom lit," but I think I'd have to classify SWEET LIFE by Mia King as just that. SWEET LIFE is the story of Marissa, a wife and mother, who gives up her career and apartment in Manhattan to move to Hawaii for her husband's job. Oh and by the way, she hopes that by moving to Hawaii, she can save her marriage. This book definitely sounded like one that I'd enjoy with lots of family dynamics and conflict; and I'm happy to say that I did like it -- a lot. I am so glad that there are books out there for those of us who are "mature" (married with children) and that have interesting female characters.I really enjoyed SWEET LIFE. It is a great story with some terrific and memorable characters. It's a relatively light, easy read; however, it also touches on some very serious (and very real) issues that affect many women in today's society. I have a feeling that you will be reminded of yourself, or even some of the women you know, when you read about the female characters in this story. I loved how this book showed the strength and resilience of women, and how women will pull together to help others.I have to admit that I didn't always love Marissa. Maybe it's because I saw in her things that I don't like about myself, but she definitely got on my nerves in the beginning of the book. I found her to be very self-centered and at times almost arrogant; however, I like how the author developed her character. She was definitely flawed, and yet I found myself rooting for her. In so many ways, SWEET LIFE was really a coming-of-age story from Marissa (even though she was a woman in her early 40.) As a reader, I enjoyed seeing Marissa discover things about her relationships and her life in general that made her a better person. I was actually quite touched by this story, and it ended up warming my heart a great deal.As a child, my family moved a lot so I could totally identify to the parts of the story about acclimating to a new environment and a new culture. While I haven't experienced a move quite as drastic as moving to Hawaii, I could understand Marissa's frustrations and feelings of being an outsider. I thought Ms. King did a wonderful job of showing the huge differences between living in Manhattan and living in Hawaii. In fact, I thought her descriptions of Hawaii and its people were perfect.I think what I enjoyed most about SWEET LIFE were the overall messages in this story. After I finished this book, I just had to smile. This book showed the importance of family and friends as well as finding what makes you happy. I don't think I will ever tire of books that make me think about those themes. Of course, I also liked how Marissa discovered things about herself and realized what was truly important in her life.My book club is all 30- and 40-somethings, so I think SWEET LIFE would be a great discussion book for my group. I think many women will relate to at least some aspects of the females in this novel. There is a reading guide available which further delves into the themes of marriage, family, trust, self awareness, and friendships. I also think hosting a meeting for this book would be so much fun. Since the story takes place in Hawaii, you could do an entire island-themed party. And since food is such a huge part of this story (there are even recipes included in the back of the book), you would have no problem coming up with some awesome treats!SWEET LIFE is the first book that I've read by Ms. King, but it won't be my last. I already have TABLE MANNERS and can't wait to read it. Ms. King has a fantastic website that you really need to check out. She has a special recipe box section where you will find lots of delicious recipes and even recipe tips. She even has entertaining/hostess ideas, related food trivia, and guest author recipes. I think her website is a terrific resource for your next party or book club meeting.

"Sweet Life" by Mia King is pure beach reading...even if it's in mid-winter and the coast is miles away. The author, who has a flare for travel vignettes, re-creates such a vivid, off-the-beaten-path-where-the-locals-live slice of Hawaii that you can almost smell the salty ocean mingle with the fresh plumeria in the air...pass me a chunk of guava, please, ummm...now back to the book.An extra star goes to an interesting plot that involves the main character, Marissa and her husband Paul, along with their young daughter, undertaking a major relocation from Manhattan to Hawaii due to Paul's job promotion. Oops, one star down; some of the plot is a bit too incredulous. I mean, what are the odds of meeting an annoying fellow passenger on an airplane, only to end up roommates who transform from total opposites to total friends? Other unrealistic situations bring Marissa together with two other women who end up being Marissa's roommates after her husband skips out on her. Since the plot forces many of the puzzle pieces in the main character's life together, I could not get fully lost in the book.On the plus side, call me Pollyanna, but I love the fact that Paul, Marissa's husband who is on the brink of a breakdown, ends up being a squeaky-clean committed husband. It is a refreshing break from a divorce-thirsty society and the way Mia sets up these circumstances is quite ingenious, but definitely credible.The author's recipes (her hallmark) add another layer of sweetness to the book. First off this is a great book, if you are a Bond fan this this is a must own, but if you are a real Bond you'll own Both copies because there are some differences between the two books other than the price $52 for the Spectre Edition and depending where you get the original Edition $130, except for the Spectre information the books have all the same information and all the pages up to that are the same, here's where things change up a bit the Spectre Edition is smaller...quite a bit smaller 10x13 and 8 pounds compared to 12.5x19 and 16 pounds the Original Edition comes with a Brown Cardboard carrying case, The cover material is different the Original Edition has a tight Alligator print compared to a smooth cover and both books the corners and spine are covered in a black canvas, The Original Edition also comes with a 35mm film strip (I got Dr. NO), The one problem I have with both books is they needed to be two volumes and needed a sleeve to keep the book in (there is something about a book when it comes with it own sleeve which helps with presentation). If you have never seen the original then the Spectre Edition is AWESOME because you can't miss what you didn't know about, if you prefer a smaller book, this one handles better I was half way finished with the first book but could only really read it in the living room or my office, this Edition I can read in bed (it's still big and a little heavy) but overall I glad I got it I do plan on keeping bot copies, I hope that they figure out a way to add the next few films without having to reprint the whole book over again

My rating is five stars for the content of the book, I am a big Bond fan and have many books on Bond and own all the films. This is currently my favorite Bond book. I agree with the reviews of the book regarding its content. I've read the book almost cover to cover and there is so much information I have learned about the making of the films from those involved, Produces, Directors, Actors, Photographers, Stunt Men, etc. I have never seen most of the hundreds of the photographs in the book which was a real treat. It made me watch about a dozen of the films again!One star rating for the quality of the binding. As a book collector who owns over 3,000 books and about a third of them large books on Art, Architecture and Photography I can tell you that beside content, there are three important aspects to an oversized book: Binding, Print Quality and Paper Quality. This book fails miserably on the quality of the binding as the signatures (groups of pages) are glued into the spine and not sewn. A big no no with a book this heavy and this large and with this many pages. The binding should have been sewn and not glued. Not only that, cheap glue was used that did not adhere to the signatures with the result that the book began to fall apart as I was reading it carefully on a flat surface. The glued binding will not take the stress of being left open. By the time I got to "The Living Daylights" several signatures were already loose. I suspected by the time I would finish the book, they would fall out. There is no way this book will stand up to repeated viewing or reading. Disappointing and not acceptable!I own about fifty Taschen Art and Architecture Books, among them such heavyweights such as "Diego Rivera: The Complete Murals" and "Joan Blaeu Atlas Maior 1655" which have sewn bindings and which I have perused many times with no problems with the bindings. The James Bond Archive was printed and bound in China and the quality is inferior. I contacted Taschen, informed them of the problem and sent them photos which I have attached to this review. They sent me a return label and a replacement copy so they do stand behind their product, but this took me time to write several emails, pack the book, go to the UPS office, track the shipment, etc. and I was without the book for almost two weeks. The replacement copy does not seem to have this problem (yet) but I am very careful the way I handle the book.It is my hope that my book was the one bad apple in the barrel, but I want all potential buyers to beware of this potential problem! This is why I gave this a three star rating overall, five stars for content and one star for binding! Also a big hassle having to contact Taschen, packing the book, dropping it off at the UPS Office, tracking the shipment to and from Taschen, etc.

The content of this book is nicely put together. Being a 007 aficionado, I totally love that the inside of the covers was the shooting schedule and call sheet for "From Russia with Love". I enjoyed reading the additional materials that I didn't know before as well as being excited to see stuff that I've seen elsewhere being included in this book.However, my main issue is the quality of this book in terms of it being put together. When I received this book from Amazon, it was in a very big box. The book itself had no cardboard backing or shrink wrap around it. Also, on my book, the edge of the top binder arrived dented out of the box. Maybe it was from shipping, the bad packaging, or maybe the work from publishing company. However, you would think for this kind of movie memorabilia book, it would at least be shrink wrap.Someone else pointed out that the binders were coming apart after a few readings and I have to agree to that as well as I too am starting to see my pages starting to come apart from the binders.Overall I would have returned this book, but it would seem like I would get another bad quality book put together. So since I'm not really a book collector, just a fan, I guess I can live with these kind of defects.But I probably won't buy another book from this publishing company.

Traditionally with the release of each new James Bond film comes a plethora of new literary publications focusing on the new film or all the films in the series. Thus, 2015's SPECTRE is no exception. The several books out this time however seem to be lacking focus. "The James Bond Archives: SPECTRE Edition" is an outstanding film by film collection of artistic text and photographs and ideas that went into these films. This book is a great addition to my library. It truly has a succinct structure and delves intensely through many of the elements that went into the films with a concerted effort to intelligently assemble the progression of ideas that resulted in the look, feel and texture of the series, and the non-series films, as a whole. However, I was glad to see that this edition was reduced in size because it makes handling the book and turning the pages more manageable. THis is a must have book. This is an excellent Edition of The James Bond Archives and it was good to see that SPECTRE was covered in detail. Well done.

I've often wanted to understand how mathematics has been used to define laws that are proven, or not, by experiment.I can understand how experiment can find the mass of an electron, for example. But how can a series of equations predict the mass?This book provides just such insight without a lot of heavy mathematics. You should brush up on basics of motion and the calculus of derivatives to make the most of the book, but it's really not required.

This book is unreadable in the Kindle edition. I don't know why Amazon sells it. Kindle format is unsuitable for math and science books. The equations and diagrams do not scale. In the case of this book, the equations are so tiny, they are unreadable. Which makes the book unreadable.

Be careful as even though these are incredibly great books, if you plan to get the larger 3 editions or already have them, the "Six ____ Pieces" books contain clipped pieces of his lectures. Actually, read the reviews on all the feynman small books first to find out what mix of old/new stuff based on what you've already read there is.These six pieces books are great for people who aren't going to buy the larger editions though.

This book has allowed me to verify some of the concepts I thought were true, based on other books I have read but did not totally understand. Feynman does not presume that the reader can mentally leap from one mathematical concept to another without a conceptual bridge which he usually provides. His examples around how the longest elapsed time is the shortest spacetime distance are excellent. His explanations of time dilation due to speed and gravity are very clear. I really like this book. The subjects in this book can be understood by anyone who has some physics and math background but it is not going to work for someone who has no background or has no intention of taking some time to ponder and study.

The title of this book probably scares off many readers, but it need not do so. This book is a sequel to Feynman's "Six Easy Pieces". Both books consist of lectures taken from Feynman's three volume lecture series, which was used for a two-year introductory physics course at Cal Tech. "Six Not So Easy Pieces" is not as easy as "Six Easy Pieces". The latter is accessible to most high school students, but the former is not. The not so easy pieces are:· Vectors· Symmetry in Physical Laws· Relativistic Energy and Momentum· Space-Time· Curved Space"Six Easy Pieces" was a bit unfocused because it covered a number of different topics. In contrast, "Six Not So Easy Pieces" is focused on just one topic, Relativity Theory. Feynman uses each topic to build up to Einstein's theory of gravitation, which is not the easiest subject to grasp.Relativity theory is generally covered in one of two ways. Some books give a general treatment, focusing on the many implications of the theory, with no mathematics. At the other extreme are texts that require considerable knowledge of matrix algebra and differential equations. This book takes a middle ground. There is some math, but only some simple algebra and vector analysis. (The vector analysis does go beyond what is taught in high school, venturing into 4 dimensional vectors, but Feynman shows this to be only a modest extension from the typical 3 dimensional vectors.) Feynman dispenses with the usual introduction to relativity theory that employs moving trains and lightening strikes. Instead he starts with a superb analysis of the Michelson-Morley experiment (alone this is worth the price of the book) and the Lorenz transformation that was developed to explain the null result that Michelson-Morley obtained. He then uses this as the starting point for the analysis of special relativity. This is followed with a discussion of relativistic energy and momentum, subjects that are generally left out of "popular" treatments of relativity theory. The final chapter discusses curved space and Einstein's theory of gravity. These topics will be hard for people without some basic physics background, but are not too advanced for the intended audience of college undergraduates, although Feynman admitted that only the best students did as well as he had hoped.As with all of Feynman's books there is a wealth of knowledge packed a small package (in this case a bit less than 150 pages) and while these six lectures are not a substitute for a complete course in the special and general theories of relativity, it does hit the highlights and as usual provides very valuable insights for readers with all levels of knowledge.

Any review reflects the biases of the reviewer. My qualifications are in organic chemistry, and, despite the common view that there is nothing outside computation, in chemical theory. The latter interest forced me to teach myself some physics, which was mainly classical mechanics, electromagnetic theory and quantum mechanics. I purchased Six Not-so-easy Pieces simply out of interest.Feynman has an almost unique ability to locate the genuinely fundamental aspects of physics, and by emphasizing these, concepts that others seem to make extraordinarily turgid, in Feynman's hands become remarkably clear. Yes, you need some mathematical ability to follow this, but not exceptional mathematics. As an example, in discussing curved space, where most authors simply present a barrage of equations, Feynman shows, using elementary geometry, how curved space works.Nothing is perfect. The role of symmetry in physics is explained well, but the discussion on the chirality of alanine, while correct as far as it goes, seemed to me to be taking the previous discussion a little out of bounds, and the discussion of the phase of the wave function has to be qualified for multiple particles. Also, a footnote on how an electron could possibly outrun a photon left open the question, given the derivation of the Lorentz contraction, why is that not a function of refractive index? But those are quibbles. The book is brilliant, and, as a challenge, if an organic chemist can follow it, why can't you?

I got this book for myself after my puppy suddenly fell ill and we had to say goodbye. This book has brought me so much comfort during this extremely painful time. I know I will be reading this over and over until the day I reunite with my sweet baby again.

This book is perfect to remember our beloved pets. The artwork is healing to the soul I have another of the author's books and it helped when we said goodbye to our last cat who was called home. We have another ill kitty and this book will be tearfully reread when God calls him.This is a short delightful read with powerful sentiments. I highly recommend.

I haven't finished reading the book, but it helped me with some aspects of my IBS-D, especially the breathing exercises. It pushed me to speak with my supervisor more about my treatment (I have a great supervisor!) so we can work through my problems at work together. I agree with Dr. Hunt that telling the people you work and socialize with is super important in this process. I appreciated learning about the cognitive model and more about IBS.However, I found out with the help of my registered dietician than a lot of my issues are food, which Dr. Hunt downplays in her treatment program. I'm lucky in that I finally found the doctors and treatment I needed and am 90% better and that my supervisor supported me 120% in the year and a half long process to this point.I give this book four stars because I don't believe it's necessarily the complete answer to your problem, and I was disappointed that Dr. Hunt downplays the food issue so much. I highly recommend reading it. I wish I'd found it earlier in my treatment, and I'll probably give it to my doctor or dietician to pass along to someone else who wouldn't otherwise read it.

This book may be for you. I spent a year going to GI doctors, getting invasive tests done and severely limiting my diet and was getting almost nowhere. After about 2 months of reading this short book and really making an effort to follow it, I can say that I am 95% better. Some of the reviews here claim that this book downplays the food issue...but that's the point! Dr. Hunt's working hypothesis is that worrying about your gut can worsen symptoms and cause flares; spending every meal wondering if you ate a hidden "trigger food" is a great way to make yourself feel worse. Try this book with an open mind and you might be amazed at how you can control your symptoms and make yourself feel better.

I didn't find this book helpful, at all. I ordered this while in the midst of a particularly bad IBS flare up, absolutely desperate for a new idea, anything new to try to make it stop. Had I not been in such a state, I might have paused to ask myself why this psychologist thinks she knows so much about this condition when even gastroenterologists will tell you that it's a bit of a mystery. All of the suggestions (deep breathing, positive imagery, and tensing and relaxing muscles) can be found online, and actually aren't very helpful with the nausea and other IBS issues to begin with. There were some parts of the book that made me feel like the author was trivializing some of the discomfort IBS can bring. She also seriously downplays the relationship between IBS and food. I've learned the hard way that food has a major effect on my symptoms, and diet mistakes cost about three days of decent living.

I have read few other books to improve my IBS symptoms. Books containing new diet plans and meditation techniques are all very useful. But the insight into the real problem I gained after reading this book is extremely helpful to me.This book clearly explains how mental condition is related to the gut problems. I was always aware of this connection but the idea was not this clear to me. Living in a professional world full of deadlines and job duties, puts lots of pressure on human body and intestinal problems such as IBS are just one way the body is alarming about the mental issues. good book highly recommend for someone struggling with IBS - as someone who was diagnosed with IBS, Panic disorder, agoraphobia , depression and anxiety.

This book almost exclusively treats IBS as a psychological issue that can be combated with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). To the extent that that describes your problems, this book might be helpful. However, many people DO experience IBS (or similar symptoms that get diagnosed as IBS) as a real physical problem, and no amount of breathing exercises are going to help that. I think this book is worth trying: I'm sure everyone with IBS has some element of anxiety developed around the problem that this book could help with. But if you have a real physical problem, don't expect this method to be a cure.
